Theatre Profile
The Ensemble has evolved to be one of the largest African-American professional theatre companies in the U.S. that produces in-house and owns its own facility. The theatre is a non-profit organization that houses three stages located in the heart of midtown for over 35 years. The theatre operates on an annual budget of $2 million.

Annually, the theatre presents a repertoire of mainstage productions of critically acclaimed dramas, comedies and musicals that demonstrate the artistic ability of more than 250 professional local, regional and national artists and support staff. The theatre also has an educational touring program in its 31st year and a summer young performers training program in its 21st year.

The Ensemble Theatre provides jobs to many in Houston's arts community as part of its business and artistic operations. Artists, technicians, carpenters, and stage hands are just a few of those needed to run a first class production.

Director of Development:
Responsibilities include: oversee our donor relations program and manage our fundraising initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing our non-profit’s fundraising campaigns, communicating with current and prospective donors, and building a stronger donor relations for our organization. This position involves managing individual and corporate gifts as well as planned and annual giving campaigns. If you have a strong background in non-profit fundraising and development, we encourage you to apply. CFRE preferred.

Responsibilities include: ensuring all areas accessed by patrons during a show are presentable; vigilant for the safety and security of patrons; manages and maintains good relationship with volunteer ushers; conducts concession sales; works closely with box office staff in regard ticket disputes and stand-by seating, makes curtain announcements.

Candidates should have experience with or enthusiasm for dealing with the public and must possess exemplary customer service and communication skills, and must be able to creatively problem solve and anticipate needs. Experience with a performance venue, restaurant or large public retail space a plus. Positive and energetic attitude required.
